Rolling Stone gives "The Dark Knight" an EXTREMELY positively glowing review!!!

So the first reviews of The Dark Knight are coming in, and I'm happy to say my nut has been busted.

Over at Rolling Stone, the usually harsh critic Peter Tarvish gave it a strong 3.5/4 stars (4's are reserved for Oscar fodder, although he does support a posthumous nod for Ledger). Don't read it if you want to avoid spoilers, however, here's the first paragraph:

Heads up: a thunderbolt is about to rip into the blanket of bland we call summer movies. The Dark Knight, director Christopher Nolan's absolute stunner of a follow-up to 2005's Batman Begins, is a potent provocation decked out as a comic-book movie. Feverish action? Check. Dazzling spectacle? Check. Devilish fun? Check. But Nolan is just warming up. There's something raw and elemental at work in this artfully imagined universe. Striking out from his Batman origin story, Nolan cuts through to a deeper dimension. Huh? Wha? How can a conflicted guy in a bat suit and a villain with a cracked, painted-on clown smile speak to the essentials of the human condition? Just hang on for a shock to the system. The Dark Knight creates a place where good and evil — expected to do battle — decide instead to get it on and dance. "I don't want to kill you," Heath Ledger's psycho Joker tells Christian Bale's stalwart Batman. "You complete me." Don't buy the tease. He means it.

Wowzies. And over at Ain't It Cool, some random lucky bastard go to see it, and again it does give some things away, but all you gotsta know is that it kicks fucking ass. Shwaeet.

there's hope for the human race after all - "Get Smart" #1, "Love Guru" #4

Variety article here.

I guess people aren't as stupid as I thought.

Get Smart is projected to earn the top spot with an estimated $39 million, while the awfully juvenile and dismally reviewed Love Guru is set to finish 4th with only $14 mil.

In addition to this bomb, Entertainment Weekly wrote an article about Mike Myers that made him out to be this huge a-hole, but at the same time talked about how he's reached some sort of spiritual awakening. And yet he makes shit like this.

first pic of Josh Brolin as George W.

The Defamer
has pics from EW of Josh Brolin made up and dressed as George W. Brolin will be playing W. in Oliver Stone's forthcoming biopic on the r-tard, which Stone hopes to have out by election time.

Now, I think it looks pretty accurate. Sure, there's plenty of look-alikes out there who resemble the President more, but they can't act worth a shit. Brolin, on the other hand, seems to have the swagger down. I'm really interested to see how this thing's going to turn out. Will Stone just go on bashing him for 120 minutes? Seems a little easy, and even people that hate the guy won't see it because they want nothing to do with him. I mean, if we've already lived through the horror, why pay $9 to relive it again?

new trailer for "The Rocker"

Yahoo has a new trailer for the film The Rocker here.

The movie comes out August 1st, and should be funny. It stars Rainn Wilson (Dwight from The Office), Will Arnett, and Jeff Garland.

Jonah Hill is very very smart.

According to Cinematical, Jonah Hill has dropped out of negotiations and will not star in Transformers 2. And peace and order were restored to the galaxy.

I, like a lot of Jonah fans, hated this move for a few reasons. For one, Transformers was one of the most overindulgent, plot-holed, expensive-looking turds ever to tumble out of the anus that is Michael Bay. Therefore, the sequel could only end up being that much more dazzingly god-awful.

Also, it's a kid's movie, so Jonah Hill obviously couldn't do a lot of the same jokes he's notorious for, therefore rendering him helpless and crippled like a baby deer. So good for Jonah.

New "The Dark Knight" Trailer in 2 Weeks!!!

According to Super Hero Hype, a new trailer for TDK is set to premier in a couple of weeks!!! Oh fuck, this means i might actually have to go see Iron Man. BOO!

You should probably know this now: The Dark Knight is my most anticipated movie of my lifetime!!! More than Episode I anything ever multiplied by each other. The sheer genius of this film is on another planet: Christian Bale, the late Heath Ledger, Micheal Caine, Cillian Murphy, Maggy Gyllenhaal, Aaron Eckhart, Eric Roberts, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Micheal Jai White, and Anthony Micheal Hall all directed by Christopher Nolan! And written by his brother (who wrote Momento and The Following)! It's also based on The Long Halloween, the incredible graphic novel by Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale. Holy mindfuck Batman, I think my toes are gonna explode!!!!

So, I will of course be updating the blog with bat-news. Peep the trailer below. Ledger's performance = pure fucking Einsteinness. He's getting that Oscar! He even locked himself in a room for 6 weeks and kept a journal in preperation! How fucking method. And the viral campaign? On some other shit!

Also, the movie's reportedly going to span nearly 3 hours! Nolan also shied away from using a lot of CGI, so it's not as if the audience is stuck watching a video game. They even blew up a real fucking building and flipped over an 18-wheeler! This is in no fucking way a "comic book" movie. It's on pace to be The Godfather II of anything Batman or science-fictionish.

Holy fucking shit i cannot wait!!!!!! Only 88 days away!

I Done Seen It: "Lars and the Real Girl"

This is getting ridiculous. Soon enough, Ryan Gosling is gonna have more classics than Jay-Z.

Lars and the Real girl tells the sweet story of a loner who orders a "love doll" and trots her around town as his girlfriend. The entire community falls in love with the fake plastic girl named Biance as well, surprisingly taking her, and Lars, under their wing. And all this is accomplished without coming off as creepy or ridiculous. How amazing the Gosling is indeed.

The film is filled with metaphors, life lessons, and layer upon layer of "Oh I get it, this stands for this, and so and so feels like this because of this." Though the premise is a tricky one to achieve and be taken seriously, trust that here, it is done so with artistic perfection. Granted, it is kinda weird, but throughout the course of the film, you find yourself transfixed and believing. Bianca's real not just to Lars, but anybody who feels like something is missing.

This film appeals to anyone who's lost someone they loved, who doesn't fit in, or is a fan of the Gosling.

9.5/10!

I Done Seen It: "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"

Let me preface this review by saying this: it is much easier (and kinda more enjoyable lol) to write about shitty movies that I hate. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is far and away NOT one of these films, so allow me to trudge along.

FSM tells the tale we're all familiar with: boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy escapes to Hawaii on vacation and runs into girl and watches her fuck a rockstar. Since it's inception, it's had genius written all over it: Judd Apatow, Jason Sigel, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Paul Rudd, Mila Kunis, Russel Brand, and a surprise cameo at the that pushed this one from classic status to "OMFG when is the DVD coming out!?" Even one of the Baldwin brothers earns his keep and drops a classic "dicksickle" line (not Alec, and not the crazy one).

With all the talent attached to this one, the strike zone is shrunken to the point where the film bats 1.000 for all 110 minutes. But it doesn't sacrifice heart for laughs: with great dick jokes, comes great romance. It's as if the movie feels bad for turning the stomachs of all the women in attendance, so it immediately follows up every gross out with a flashing of heart. But don't worry: right after that, it flashes something else (literally).

At the end of the day, it's another classic for the Apatow gang. FSM even shows some growth by actually not making all the women in the film hateable. In fact, it's kinda hard to hate anyone here. And Sigel's Kermit influences are evident as "Dracula's Lament" shines as a musical performance in a movie that's actually funny.

So fuck Jet Li, you shoulda seen this. 9/10!
